I'm still looking for a disco class

I'm in a Bollywood dance class, friends. I've been planning to take a dance class (of any genre) for ages, and I finally made it happen, even though I couldn't convince any of my buddies to join me this time around.

My first class was last Monday, and I almost bailed at the last minute. I got some news at the end of the work day that suggested the stability of my job was in question (it looks OK for the time being, so no need to worry), and I didn't really feel like dancing; however, my sister convinced me that the class was just what I needed. She did this by bribing me (I'm still waiting for the treat to arrive in my mail box, so I can't tell you what it is just yet).

Of course she was right. First of all, Bollywood music can't help but make a person feel good. Second, the teacher provided bangles, ankle bells and scarves to help us get in the mood. Third, I like dancing! I took dance classes for six years as a child, and it felt good to do it again. Thanks for encouraging me, Shannon.

So, I'm off to class tonight, and I'm actually looking forward to it this time. I think I should to do some Bollywood research before my next class, so if you have any favorite Bollywood movies (or musicians) to suggest, please do. And feel free to join me for the next round of classes in March. Boys included!

For the record, if we were still neighbors and in the same city I would TOTALLY be attending these classes with you. I love Indian dance both traditional and film.

You should definitely look up Madhuri Dixit on YouTube. She is amazing. She's in "Devdas" which is one of the most expensive Bollywood productions and also an amazing, heart-wrenching love story. You've got to see it!

I don't think you'll be surprised to know that I have a sizeable collection of Indian film music, Erin. If you want, I can send you a mix!

Brie! I asked my teacher to recommend a couple of movies, and she told me to watch Devdas (!) and Lagaan (a modest but classic Bollywood film).

I would love a mix of Indian film music, but no pressure.

I actually have a ready-made mix. I will send it your way ASAP. I've only watched part of Lagaan. I fell asleep! I also recommend Sholay. It is a CLASSIC!

i would have totally joined you in a dance class too. i've trying to convince alex to take a ballroom dance class with me but it's not looking good...

i feel like i should be able to recommend a good indian movie as the posters are all over my neighbourhood local shops. i obviously don't actually look closely at them. i'll make a point to take in some names next time i pop out for chocolate.

shilpa shetty is quite popular in england.

Good for you, Erin! Dancing makes a person feel so great. I recently started going to the Latin Dance drop-in at the Y. Fun!

I got the treat: earrings made from heart-shaped pieces of an old record. Nice!
