At least there's San Francisco

Life has been a little overwhelming lately, and the urge to keep this thing updated isn't that strong. My grandma had a stroke last week and remains in hospital. She's doing remarkably well, but even so, I don't expect that she will be able to live on her own again. My parents are here now. I'm very thankful to a have nurse in the family at a time like this; my mom has worked wonders at the hospital.

And then there's school.

I am going to San Francisco on Friday.

Even though I don't feel like writing, I might link to a few odds and ends during the next few weeks. For starters, you should check out this excellent Globe and Mail article about Anna Nicole Smith: The sad death of a knock-off. I get excited when I am witness to such stellar writing ability.

Hey Erin,

I'm so sorry to hear about your grandma. I'm glad to hear she is doing well under the circumstances. I'm also glad your family is with you.

Erin. I hope you and your family, and of course your grandma are doing well.

Forget school. And have fun in San Fran!

Erin,
I also hope that your grandma feels better soon...

And, it's funny you're going to SF because I just found this blog: www.burritoeater.com

I second Imtiaz's suggestion to forget school---you should start planning your burrito tour!

Hey kiddo,

I hope everything is going as well as it can with Grandma Riley. I'm SO glad your parents (including your mom - a trained nurse!) are there too.

Relax and enjoy San Fran. Get some sun! Eat some seafood! Ask for extensions from your profs!

Love,
Erin

thanks for the love. sadly, i'm not going to san francisco anymore; shannon and chris decided to come here because grandma has taken a turn for the worse. we're all just taking turns at the hospital. i asked for extensions from school, so i'm trying to take it easy here in victoria.

thanks again.
